CEIR enriches its library of case studies
DALLAS – The Center for Exhibition Industry Research has just published two new case studies to complement its Global trends in virtual events case study library. The collection provides on-the-ground details of how organizations that have traditionally produced in-person business-to-business trade shows have turned to virtual events as pandemic restrictions have shut down live events around the world. Along with the operational ‘how they did it’ aspects, the case studies also explore what happened as a result of the digital switchover, as well as the lessons that trade show organizers learned from the experience.
“Both case studies offer unique perspectives,” said CEIR Vice President of Research Nancy Drapeau, PRC. While one CEO explains how the organization used its multi-channel product line to a strategic advantage, the other, she said, “was intentionally narrow, generating positive benefits for future acquisition efforts. participants, impactful product demonstration opportunities for exhibitors and strengthening members’ connection with the organization. “

Anatomy of virtual events and financial results explores a lot of background data on what is typically included in a virtual event, as well as attendance and financial performance results. The second, Lessons Learned to Date and Technologies Used, provides an analysis of the open comments shared by executives on the technology they have used to host digital events, as well as lessons learned along the way.

The reports were based on a survey conducted in October 2020. The survey gathered responses from 346 attendees of more than a dozen B2B exhibition organizers or related representatives, said Cathy Breden, CMP, CAE, CEM , CEO of CEIR. Among them are:
