Fi Europe Ingredients Show Opens Entrances For Key Industry Breakthroughs
Leading combined ingredient trade shows, Fi Europe and Hi Europe, are expected to recognize key achievements within the industry, as its annual awards return for the 2021 event.
As organizers Informa Markets explained, startups launched in the past five years are invited to share their most innovative product, service or solution by submitting an application by September 17 for the Startup Innovation Challenge 2021, while Exhibiting companies participating in the event are invited to submit their applications before September 24 for the Fi Europe Innovation Awards 2021.
There are eight categories in the 2021 Fi Innovation Awards for the show which runs from November 30 to December 3 in Frankfurt. Seven of them are open to exhibitors only (online or in person), while for the first time this year, the Future of Nutrition category will honor individuals from non-exhibiting companies, associations or organizations.
The Startup Innovation Challenge and the Fi Europe Innovation Awards are well established and very prestigious, recognizing and highlighting breakthrough innovations – with a number of past winners having ties to the confectionery and snack industries.
From ingredients, process technologies and equipment to new approaches and strategic initiatives, the Fi Europe Innovation Awards have recognized pioneering work for many years, but still reflect current industry trends.
This year’s finalists and winners will be chosen by a jury of industry experts chaired by Professor Colin Dennis, who is Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFIS and the British Nutrition Foundation. The winners will be announced live in Frankfurt during Fi Europe and will also be broadcast online.
Professor Colin Dennis, who has chaired the Fi Innovation Awards jury since 2019, highlights the role that the Fi Europe Innovation Awards play in recognizing innovation in the F&B industry: “Innovation in the food industry is vital for its future success. Companies can submit an application for one or more of the following categories. The jury will give preference to new products introduced in the last two years: This includes the Future of Nutrition award, the sensory innovation award, the plant innovation award, the plant innovation award, as well as the Clean Label & Natural Innovation award. for ingredient processes. There are other categories in health innovation, food technology innovation, sustainability innovation, diversity and inclusion.
In addition, in its sixth year, the Startup Innovation Challenge is a unique competition aimed at supporting innovative projects within the F&B industry through a specialized support program tailored to the needs of startups.
This competition is open to all startups presenting innovations targeting the F&B sector with a focus on: Revolutionary ingredients / additives that improve the taste, texture, appearance and / or nutritional value of foods and beverages , revolutionary processing technologies and pioneering technologies or services that support the F&B industry.
The awards will be organized jointly with Fi Europe and Hi Europe 2021, the world’s largest gathering of ingredient buyers and decision makers. The finalists will therefore not only benefit from global exposure, but also meet key industry players who can help them take their innovations to the next level.
All finalists will be invited to pre-register a presentation pitch that will be presented at the online event, as well as a live pitch at Fi Europe combined with Hi Europe 2021.
