Roma (VNA) – Vietnamese agricultural products are exposed to Macfruit 2022: Trade Fair for Fruits and Vegetables held in the city of Rimini, Italy, from May 4-6.

The Vietnamese pavilion called “Vietnam fruit garden” exhibits processed fruit products, tea, coffee, spices and others, which have attracted the attention of many companies not only Italian but also European.

This is the second time Vietnam has attended the show.

Speaking at the event, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, said Italy is one of the major importers of agricultural products from Vietnam, which has great potential for growth.

The Vietnamese Embassy has been helping Vietnamese exporters make the most of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) to boost sales of agricultural products, especially fruits and vegetables, to Italy and to other EU countries, he said.

He noted that Macfrut provides Vietnamese businesses with an opportunity to get updates on market demand and supply, access new technologies in Italyexplore ways to meet high EU import standards and gain a foothold in the global supply and value chain.

The exhibition of Vietnamese agricultural products at Macfrut 2022 can help expand cooperation and exchanges between the two countries and boost bilateral investment activities, said the director general of the Italian Trade Promotion Agency (ICE). ), Roberto Luongo, to the Vietnamese press agency. Bilateral trade amounted to about 4.5 billion euros ($4.75 billion) a year, he noted.

He revealed that ICE wants to promote Italy’s image in Vietnam and help companies from both sides get more business opportunities.

ICE will support an Italian government task force, accompanied by companies, to visit Vietnam later this year, he added.

Macfrut is the second largest annual fruit and vegetable fair in Europe. This year’s event features some 800 pavilions and expects to welcome around 32,500 visitors.
