With around 300 companies from 22 countries (as of November 26, 2021), Grindtec 2022 will present an industry-leading overview with many innovations. Half (51%) of the currently registered exhibitors are based in Germany, the highest foreign participation currently comes from Italy (12%), followed by China (11%) and Switzerland (8%). Compared to previous events, there has been a significant increase in new thematically perfectly complementary offerings, such as the Grindtec Factory or Grindtec Start-up worlds. In this way, Grindtec will again be an important and essential platform for the metal industry in 2022.

Technological highlights at Grindtec 2022

Grindtec 2022 will showcase a host of technical and technological highlights from the grinding technology industry – despite the EMO, which only took place this fall in Milan. Grindtec will again focus particularly on the details that are typically overlooked at full manufacturing technology trade shows. But that’s exactly what visitors love about Grindtec. New grinding machines, measuring instruments, automation solutions, innovations for the preparation of cooling lubricants and high precision clamping devices and techniques will be presented.

The further developments and new presentations of the software industry will be particularly exciting. This not only applies to user software for controlling and programming machines, equipment and measuring systems, but also for the development and design of cutting tools.

Visitors can also expect new developments in coating technology, advanced preparation or laser processing technologies or tool welding systems. Anything that makes the crusher’s heart beat faster. Things are getting smart at Grindtec as well. Many 4.0 applications will be presented, where the user will be able to monitor processes or machines remotely via a smartphone or tablet. At the special Grindtec Factory trade fair, visitors can even get an insight into the interaction of the entire process chain of a tool grinding company, including the necessary technical interfaces.

The new Grindtec thematic worlds

The Grindtec factory will celebrate its premiere at Grindtec 2022. This large special exhibition is jointly developed and implemented by the FDPW and the organizer of Grindtec Afag. A whole range of manufacturers – all from the field of cutting tool production – will present their technologies in a manual and networked digital combination, thereby mapping the process chain in the field of tool grinding. At the same time, this exhibition also shows how mechanical or digital interfaces work with other technologies and presents a whole range of new products and solutions. The main objective is to make the processes visible, tangible and noticeable. With an area of around 500 square meters, the Grindtec factory will be one of the highlights of Hall 7.

Also new is the thematic world of Grindtec Innovation, the new digital platform for the industry. Since the middle of the year, experts from all over the world have had the opportunity to exchange information and ideas between the years of the fair. Whether through social media channels on Linkedin and Facebook or the Innovation Blog: with the new digital offering, grinding technology professionals will not miss any innovation and trend. The culmination of every two years is the awarding of an innovation award at the world’s leading trade fair for grinding technology in Augsburg. The current participants are: GDS, ISBE, Zoller, S-Techplus.

Starting Grindtec

With the Grindtec Start-up platform, which is also a novelty, the world’s leading trade fair for grinding technology offers young innovative companies an excellent opportunity to present themselves in the global market. In a joint effort, the organizer Afag and the commercial sponsor FDPW are also promoting the whole industry and thus – especially in these difficult times – contributing to a faster return to familiar conditions.

For many years, thematic universes have complemented the growing spectrum of Grindtec. The Grindtec Forum has been a part of the event from the very beginning with its lectures on hot industry topics. The “Tool Grinder of the Year” competition was added a little later. This Grindtec Challenge will take place again in 2022, this time supported by Schneeberger Maschinenfabrik. In addition to the competition, there will be a Grindtec Innovation Award initiated by the FDPW for the first time in 2022.

The Grindtec campus has also been an integral part of Grindtec for several years. Universities, academies and other scientific institutions have been presenting the latest innovations in research and development for many years. They take a close look at the world of tomorrow’s grinding technology. Among others, the Institute for Machine Tools and Factory Operation (IWF) of the Technical University of Berlin, the Institute for Machining Technology – ISF – of the Technical University of Dortmund, the Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Machine Tools of Leibniz University of Hanover and the WZL Machine Tool Lab at RWTH Aachen will be present.
