China International Trade in Services Fair (CIFTIS) 2021 is scheduled for early September in Beijing with a focus on digital commerce, the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) said on Tuesday, describing the large services exhibition with a large participation of institutions. foreign markets as a manifestation of the country’s commitment to accelerate the opening of markets.

CIFTIS will start on September 2 and run until September 7 with the holding of more than 100 trade forums and negotiations, covering an exhibition area of ​​over 130,000 square meters, Chen Chunjiang, head of the trade in services department and commercial services at MOFCOM, said at a press conference in Beijing.

To date, 138 foreign institutions from 105 countries and regions have confirmed their participation, online or in person, at the upcoming services fair, according to Yan Ligang, director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

CIFTIS drew participants from the world’s 30 largest service traders and involved 76 countries that have signed Belt and Road Agreements with China, Yan revealed, and 39 famous companies from the country and the world. overseas, including Amazon, Canon, NEC, Alibaba and BOE Technology have registered for CIFTIS digital services special exhibition area.

In addition to frequent attendees of CIFTIS, including the Irish Embassy in China, the Japan Foreign Trade Organization and the Euro-Sino Business Association, nearly 40 international organizations are expected to join this year’s show for the first time. times, Sun Yao, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce, revealed at Tuesday’s conference.

In response to a question from the Global Times regarding the event’s virus containment efforts, Sun said that a dynamic risk assessment mechanism will be put in place with the participation of anti-epidemic experts to provide timely adjustments to virus prevention and containment measures, to ensure a safe event.

The official also pledged to encourage vaccine inoculations, nucleic acid testing and health surveillance, among a wide range of coronavirus safety precautions.

Unlike in previous years, the upcoming event will be held not only at the China National Convention Center, neighboring the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube, but also in Shougang Park in western Beijing. Its debut in the park is intended to host a series of special sub-exhibitions.
