LG and Lotte to Showcase Environmentally Friendly Plastic Materials at German Trade Fair
SEOUL, Oct. 18 (Yonhap) — LG Chem Ltd. and Lotte Chemical Corp. announced on Tuesday that they plan to showcase their latest ranges of environmentally friendly plastics and other advanced materials at a plastics show in Germany this week, as part of efforts to tap deeper into the European market.
LG Chem, South Korea’s leading chemical maker, will showcase its sustainable products, including biodegradable and recycling products, at K 2022, a plastics and rubber trade show that kicks off in the city of Duesseldorf in the United States on Wednesday. West Germany (local time), the company said.
Bioplastics will include poly lactic acid and poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate, as well as airgel, a lightweight solid material used as thermal insulation for electric vehicle batteries or space suits.
Solar panel films, known as polyolefin elastomer, and LG Chem’s own carbon nanotube, an emerging next-generation material for an additive used in electric vehicle batteries, will also be on display.
Lotte Chemical and Lotte Fine Chemical, two chemical materials units of South Korean retail giant Lotte Group, plan to introduce visions for the green transition, called “Project LOOP”, which focus on the development of recycled plastic materials for application to home appliances and other devices.
They will also showcase recycled polypropylene that can be widely used in cosmetic containers and food packaging, as well as a variety of other specialized and advanced materials, Lotte said.
