The 2021 Lancaster County Show is back. Here’s what to eat, what to look for and where to find the parade.

In addition to the fun cakes and funnels, the animals and parades are back at the Lancaster County Trade Fair.

NS Elizabeth Town Fair Opening Monday August 23, the Market Goat Fair marks the start of the fair season.

Lancaster County has seven trade fairs, most of them statewide. Due to the pandemic, these massive homecoming were almost canceled last year.

Organizers continued to plan for the 2021 show for more than a year due to rule changes regarding meetings, social distancing and masks. Currently, COVID-19 infection is on the rise.

“We’re a little nervous,” says Sally Noort, Elizabeth Town Fair Secretary.

Fair volunteers don’t want necessary masks. They want the fair not to be closed.

“We want things to go as planned,” she says.

Solanco Fair From Wednesday until Friday, masks are available and there is an additional hand washing station, said fair chairman Robert Lowry.

There are still a lot of plans at each fair. Here’s a guide on what to see, what to eat, and how to win prizes.


The menu at the local trade fair begins with a breakfast sandwich and ends with a milkshake.

Try the Harvey’s BBQ Pork Sandwich at Elizabeth Town Fair, Shanek Area Lions Club Cheeseburger at Denver Fair, Chicken Corn Soup at Solanco Fair, and Toast Cheeseburger at Akron Lions Club. At the Efrata Fair, a milkshake from the Lampetter Fair director, a New Holland Lions ham and cheese sandwich and a milkshake at the Mannheim Farm Show. On the savory side, you can find fries in Denver, Efrata Fair and New Holland.

Last year, the breeding show One of the rare activities of the show. Young competitors started raising animals before the pandemic. Their animal shows and auctions were by invitation only.

The show will be open to the public again this year, where you can see screenings of cows, sheep, pigs, goats and rabbits.

Besides the animals in the market, the show is full of animal encounters.

attend the West Horse Show at the West Lampeter Community Fair. The youth show is Friday September 24 at 10:30 a.m. and the show for all ages is 6 p.m.

The Summer Olympics may be over, but you can still take the ribbon home with you Skid Loader Rodeo (Elizabeth Town), Cornhole Tournament (Denver), and Tug-of-War (Solanco When Lampitter) competition.

If you’re a champion eater, sign up for the Long John Eating Contest in New Holland.

Babies can win $ 200 in the Elizabeth Town Baby Photo Contest. At the same fair, people over the age of 62 can be crowned King and Queen with a cap and shirt, along with a prize of $ 100.

It’s fun to see kids pulling a pedal tractor and visiting the petting zoo. Some Lancaster County trade shows also offer free live programming that includes bands and other performers. Here are some highlights:

Each fair has hundreds of entries, from the oldest antique tractors to the largest zucchini. Some of the winners will attend the Pennsylvania Farm Show. Most receive awards. All entries will be on display during the show.

Bid on the Elizabeth Town Fair (Tuesday, August 24, 7:30 p.m.) and Denver Fair (Tuesday, September 14, no time set) auctions and bring back some of these baked goods. on sale from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday September 21.

Most of the items on display are what you cook, grow and craft. The West Lampeter Community Fair has two areas which are popular for collecting. Grandmothers and older grandfathers have vintage utensils in categories like celery stalls, cracker boxes, and butter dishes. Next to the fairground is the barn area, with categories such as local vintage photography, funnels, and major axles.
