Gujarat is considered the textile center of India. The state produces nearly 30% of the cotton and 56% of the denim of the country’s total production. Also, the state takes the lion’s share of 38% in the manufacture of man-made filament fabrics and 30% in woven fabrics. After an increase in purchases from domestic buyers, Gujarat’s textile industry is now seeing encouraging export demand from Europe, the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Some importers from the United States, Europe, Australia and New Zealand have decided to source from Indian suppliers rather than China, Pakistan and Turkey.
